A Personal Calling from the Forest

Queen of the Forest began not as a business idea, but as a personal calling — a deep whisper from the heart of the Amazon. Our founder, Marcio Purusha, first encountered sacred forest medicines over two decades ago. The connection was immediate, life-changing, and profound.

Drawn into ceremonial work with Ayahuasca, hapé, and Sananga, Marcio began walking a path of spiritual healing and service. Over the years, this journey evolved into something greater: a sacred responsibility to help protect and share the ancestral knowledge of Indigenous peoples — not by speaking for them, but by standing with them.

Meeting the Pajés: Friendship Before Business

One of the core values at Queen of the Forest is relationship over transaction. We don’t buy products from Indigenous communities — we build friendships, alliances, and long-term collaborations.

Many of our hapé blends come from renowned spiritual leaders, including Pajé Assis of the Huni Kuin people, whose powerful and deeply respected recipes have touched the lives of thousands. Pajé Assis doesn’t just “make a product” — he sings over each blend, channels prayers, and crafts with the energy of ceremony. Every blend is medicine.

The same is true of other elders we work with. We’ve traveled by boat, motorcycle, and foot to reach villages deep within the rainforest. We’ve sat in ceremony, shared meals, and listened to the teachings of those who hold ancient lineages. The result is not just business — it is kinship.

The Artisans: Hands That Carry Culture

Beyond medicine, our store features beautiful handmade items — from jewelry to ceremonial tools — created by Indigenous artisans, many of them women, who use their craft to support their families and preserve cultural identity.

For example, some of our earrings and beaded bracelets are made by Wixarika (Huichol) artists from Mexico, each pattern a living symbol of cosmology and prayer. Others come from the hands of Amazonian mothers who bead as they sing lullabies to their children — infusing each piece with love and ancestral memory.

Every purchase directly supports these creators. We pay above market value, offer bulk purchases to ensure income stability, and avoid exploitative middlemen. Whenever possible, we allow the artisans to set their own prices and timelines, honoring their rhythm and dignity.

Commerce as a Sacred Exchange

In a world obsessed with convenience and profit, we believe in commerce as sacred exchange. Every item in our shop is part of a reciprocal relationship. You are not “buying a product” — you are participating in a web of support, healing, and transformation.

When you receive a hapé applicator or ceremonial kuripe, you are receiving not just wood and craft, but intention, spirit, and story. Someone in the forest gathered that wood, shaped it by hand, offered prayers into it. Your payment helps feed their children, supports their ceremonies, and strengthens their community.

In return, you receive a tool of power — one that can accompany you in prayer, meditation, healing, and growth.

Our Fair Trade Promise

We do not use the term “fair trade” as a marketing phrase. For us, it’s a sacred obligation. Here’s how we uphold that promise:

• Direct sourcing: We work directly with Indigenous families and artisans. No third-party exploiters. 
• Above-market compensation: We pay what is fair, not what is cheap — often double or triple the market rate. 
• Upfront payments: We never ask communities to “front the work.” We pay deposits or in full before production begins. 
• Support in times of need: During floods, illness, or hardship, we send extra aid and donations beyond business. 
• Shared visibility: We credit the makers whenever possible, naming the tribes and pajés involved so they receive recognition and respect. 

Supporting Women of the Forest

Many of our most meaningful partnerships are with Indigenous women — artists, mothers, and wisdom keepers who are reviving traditions that risk being lost.

These women often balance enormous responsibilities: raising children, working the land, caring for elders, and preserving sacred crafts. By supporting their creations, we help empower matriarchal wisdom and offer them autonomy, visibility, and a source of income that honors their culture.

In our line of apparel and ceremonial adornments, we highlight items made or inspired by feminine energies — moon-based symbolism, fertility patterns, and guardian motifs.

Challenges Along the Way

Our mission is not always easy. Working with the rainforest and its people comes with many challenges:

• Logistical delays: Sometimes it takes weeks or months for items to reach us — due to river levels, weather, or tribal needs. 
• Translation and trust: Language barriers and different worldviews require time, patience, and cultural sensitivity. 
• Cultural protection: Some traditions are not meant for the public. We tread carefully, always asking what can be shared and what must remain sacred. 
• Market pressures: Competing with cheap imitations or mass-produced “spiritual goods” is a constant challenge. But we never compromise quality or integrity. 

Despite these challenges, we are committed to the long path. Sacred commerce is not fast. It is a spiral, guided by Spirit.

Planting Seeds: Giving Back to the Forest

Part of our mission is also environmental. We are actively exploring reforestation initiatives, seed donation programs, and collaborations with land stewards to return more than we take.

With each purchase, you are helping fund:

Some of our products even include a short story or note from the maker — bringing the human connection directly into your hands.

What You Won’t See

What we offer is not for trend or aesthetic. We do not dilute, whitewash, or repackage Indigenous knowledge to make it more palatable. You won’t see appropriation or spiritual shortcuts here.

Instead, you’ll find humility. Listening. Reverence. And an ongoing learning process.

The Future: A Global Village Rooted in Spirit

Looking ahead, our vision is to continue growing as a global village rooted in spiritual integrity. We are developing:

• Educational content: Articles, videos, and courses to deepen understanding of Indigenous medicines and worldviews. 
• Retreats and immersion programs: Spaces where people can meet the forest, the medicines, and the elders face to face. 
• Community impact projects: Supporting schools, water access, and food sovereignty in remote communities. 
• Expanded wholesale access: Helping ceremony leaders, healers, and conscious stores bring sacred goods to more people ethically. 

We want Queen of the Forest to be more than a store — we want it to be a movement.
