Jiboia Hapeh is a traditional Amazonian rapé (hapeh) crafted by the Puyanawa people of the western Brazilian state of Acre. Built around the ash of Jiboia leaves, it is a small-batch botanical preparation rooted in Puyanawa cultural tradition.

About This Blend

In Puyanawa tradition, the Jiboia plant is associated with “opening the paths.” Named for the jiboia (boa) and recognizable by its long, winding vine-like form, it carries a grounding, centering character that is valued in ceremonial settings and held with respect and intention.

Origin and Craftsmanship

The Puyanawa are an Indigenous people of the far west of Acre, Brazil. Through the late 19th and early 20th centuries they endured great hardship during the rubber-extraction era, and over recent generations they have led a strong movement to reclaim and celebrate their cultural identity. This blend is prepared by hand by Puyanawa makers as part of that living tradition.

Every blend we carry is sourced directly from our Indigenous and tribal partners on fair-trade terms, so that the communities who craft these preparations are equitably compensated and their cultural heritage supported. Each purchase contributes to the sustainability of these traditions and the forest they call home.
