“If current trends continue, this century we may witness an unprecedented climate change and the unprecedented destruction of ecosystems, with serious consequences for all of us.”

They have no availability of economic resources enable them to adapt to climate impacts or deal in catastrophic situations, and have little access to social services and protection. “

“Tragically, [climate change] leads to increased numbers of immigrants fleeing poverty exacerbated by environmental degradation, which are not recognized as refugees under international conventions and carry the burden of their lives abandoned without any protection legislation. Unfortunately the lack of answers to these dramas of our brothers and sisters is a signal loss of a sense of collective responsibility that sustains any civilized society. “
