Puyanawa Murici

Puyanawa Murici is a nice and basic rape’ from the Puyanawa tribe. Murici is their most commonly used ash. The rape’ is made with a mixture of organic moi tobacco from the region and corda.

The Puyanawa is an indigenous group that inhabits the extreme west of the Brazilian state of Acre. They suffered greatly from the exploitation of rubber in the late 19th and early 20th century, since then many have died from illnesses and clashes. Their culture became nearly extinct , while they were forced to work as slaves in the rubber plantations they were catechized and forced to attend schools . Like many of the tries in the region they have since started a movement to regain their cultural identity. Recently they organized the first indigenous convention about Ayahuasca bringing together many tribes from the region to discuss their position on the spreading of the use of their ancestral medicines.
