Puyanawa
The Puyanawa is an indigenous group that inhabits the extreme west of the Brazilian state of Acre. They suffered greatly from the exploitation of rubber in the late 19th and early 20th century, since then many have died from illnesses and clashes. Their culture became nearly extinct , while they were forced to work as slaves in the rubber plantations they were catechized and forced to attend schools . Like many of the tries in the region they have since started a movement to regain their cultural identity. Recently they organized the first indigenous convention about Ayahuasca bringing together many tribes from the region to discuss their position on the spreading of the use of their ancestral medicines.

What is Rapeh and how is it administered?
Rapeh, also referred to as rapé or hapeh, holds a profound significance among the indigenous tribes of the Amazon, where it has been cherished as a sacred sacrament for countless generations. This ancient ceremonial preparation is meticulously crafted by grinding dried medicinal plants along with ashes derived from specific trees. The resulting blend, known as Rapeh, is traditionally administered through a distinctive pipe made from bone or bamboo, specifically designed for the purpose. With precise technique, the Rapeh is blown directly into the nostrils, allowing for its potent effects to be experienced by the individual receiving the sacrament.
